What's New

Robbie Burns Night

The Band had a great time taking part in the Robbie Burns Day celebration at St Margaret's of Scotland Church tonight. This was the second year for this event and a good time was had by all. The Haggis and other traditional Scottish food was a big hit and a first for many people attending. The crowd was bigger than last year and hopefully this trend continues in the future.

LODD of Firefighter Jon Davies

The Band would like to extend our deepest condolences to the members of Worcester Fire Department and the family of Jon Davies. Jon died in the line of duty while fighting a three alarm fire in Worcester, Massachusetts on December 8.

Halifax Explosion Ceremony and Halifax Regional Firefighter LODD Ceremony

In two days we pay respect both to the victims of the Halifax Explosion and to our own Fallen Firefighters. All members of the Fire Service and Public are invited to attend either or both events. The Explosion Ceremony will take place at Fort Needham at 8:45 am and the Fallen Firefighter Ceremony at 10 am.

Christmas Tree Lighting

We will again be performing in the Dartmouth Tree Lighting Celebration at Sullivan's Pond this year. Following the Tree Lighting and fireworks over the Pond the Band will be taking part in a short parade to Alderney Landing in Downtown Dartmouth.

Barb Stewart Recognition Night

Friday night's recognition celebration for Barb Stewart was a huge success and a great time was had by all. Most of Nova Scotia's Pipe Bands and several well known soloist Pipers were on hand to perform and show their respect for one of our region's most influencial Pipers. The lineup included Clan Farquharson, Clan Thompson, The RCMP "H" Division Band, Old Scotia, The 33rd Service Battalion, 12 Wing(Shearwater), the 78th Highlanders and our Band. There were also a few soloists including Barry Shears on hand to take the stage. Barb has had a profound and lasting influence on Piping and Pipe Bands in our region and this was a chance for all of us to show her our appreciation for her dedication and commitment to improving the art.
